LONDON KY—A complaint of prescription theft from Kmart was received by the London Police Department at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6th. The complaint led to the arrest of Nancy L. Benge, 48, of Clay Street in London.
A Kmart pharmacist said that Benge stated she was the sister of the prescription holder, so that she may receive a prescription of Hydrocodone without their knowledge. Ofc. Jacob Bormann located Benge at Maple Street Apartments, located within 1,000 feet of the London Elementary School.
Benge told police that she picked up her ex boyfriend’s prescription in order to get him to speak with her. She also said that she did not have prior permission to do so.
Bormann located the prescription bottle inside the residence and counted the pills to make sure the entire prescription was accounted for. It was discovered that 17 out of the 90 pills were missing from the bottle. Benge then stated that she had given them away to acquaintances.
Benge was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, first degree trafficking in a controlled substance of the first offense, and theft or disposition of a controlled substance under $10,000. Benge was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
