LONDON KY— On Tuesday, July 7th at approximately 9 p.m. on Jody Street, London Police Ofc. Logan Medlock and K-9 Sgt. Jacob Bormann conducted a traffic stop on a silver Mercedes-Benz without a visible registration plate. Through investigation, Joseph A. McNally, 40, of Warner Robbins, Ga. and Derhonda Newberry, 40, of Clovis, N.M. were arrested.
Officers discovered the vehicle’s missing registration plate on Meyers Baker Road. Through further investigation during the traffic stop Sgt. Bormann found that the driver, McNally, had no vehicle registration or tags. McNally and Newberry were acting overly nervous and fidgety and Newberry was openly drinking alcohol in the passenger seat.
K-9 Jack and Sgt. Bormann conducted an exterior search of the vehicle, where Jack alerted to the odor of narcotics on the vehicle’s driver’s side door. Following a search of the vehicle, a hidden plastic baggy was discovered containing methamphetamine. Newberry stated that more narcotics were located at the Microtel hotel where they had been lodged.
Officers obtained and executed a search warrant that led officers to discover a variety of glass pipes containing a white crystal substance and five baggies containing 15 grams of methamphetamine.
Officers assisting on scene include Cpl. Elbert Riley, Ofc. Andrew Lawson and Ofc. Logan Medlock.
McNally was arrested and charged with no registration plates, no registration receipt, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia. Newberry was arrested and charged with possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle and first-degree possession of a controlled substance.
Both were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
