LONDON KY—On Monday, Nov. 14th at 3:30 p.m. London Police engaged in a high-speed pursuit that began as Capt. Darrel Kilburn and Det. Sgt. Joe Smith visited 105 Dean Oakley road to serve an indictment warrant. The resident, Russell E. Morgan, 33, of London was arrested.
When police arrived to serve the indictment warrant at the residence in reference to charges of being a persistent felony offender and flagrant non-support, Morgan unknowingly pulled into the residence then quickly fled the scene at a high-rate of speed. Officers engaged in pursuit of Morgan from Russell Morgan road onto Dean Oakley road. Morgan’s vehicle was discovered abandoned along a wood line.
Police pursued Morgan approximately 200 yards into the woods and located him along an embankment. Morgan initially resisted arrest. Discovered nearby within a black container was 3.4 grams of methamphetamine and needles. Morgan stated that the meth found near him was his.
Morgan was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
