LONDON KY—On Tuesday, April 17th London Police responded to a 911 call regarding a robbery at the BP Station located on West KY-192. Through investigation, Cynthia A. Swafford, 34, of London was arrested.
Upon the arrival of officers, an employee at the store stated that he was in the office for a moment and when he returned to the front, Swafford was behind the counter and had a removed a money bag containing over $500, then proceeded out of the store.
The employee followed Swafford and asked a customer to call 911. When asked for the money back, Swafford provided it. After the money was returned, the employee attempted to keep her on the property until police arrived, but Swafford began to assault him. After the assault, Swafford fled the property.
Officers canvased the area. Officers knocked on the door of an apartment at 508 Minton Drive and Swafford answered the door. Officers immediately recognized Swafford and she was detained. The store employee was later able to positively identify Swafford as the robber who assaulted him.
Det. Robinson arrested Cynthia Swafford and she was charged with second-degree robbery. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. Assisting in the arrest were Chief Derek House, Capt. Darrel Kilburn, Det. Jessie Williams, Sgt. Richie Reynolds, Ofc. Justin Roby, Ofc. Troy Truett, and Ofc. Dylan Hampton. Det. Robinson is continuing the investigation.
